LEG 1 IRRA 2025

Thursday, 4 December 2025 – Sumedang Majalengka, West Java

Overview of Leg 1 – Special Stage

After completing the Ceremonial Start and the Prologue Stage on the previous day, competitors of the Inisiasi Rally Raid Adventure 2025 entered the first true competitive section: Special Stage 1 (SS1) Sumedang. This stage marks the beginning of real time accumulation toward the overall standings.

In the Prologue, Heri Rusyaman / Leo Bagas Artato (AUTO, CAN-AM Maverick) and Ahmad Zainuri (MOTO, Honda CB150X) delivered strong performances and earned advantageous starting positions for Leg 1. However, rally raid is unpredictable — the longer distance of SS1 quickly reshuffled the competitive order.

Stage Characteristics & Terrain Conditions

Route map of IRRA 2025 SS1 Sumedang

SS1 Sumedang presented a demanding mixture of gravel, red dirt, village paths, and plantation areas, delivering constantly changing elevation and rhythm. Riders and drivers needed to balance aggression with caution as the terrain continuously shifted.

Navigation remained essential, but on a longer stage like SS1, endurance and mechanical reliability played a major role. Penalties at time controls or minor incidents on track were enough to alter positions significantly.

Leg 1 Results – MOTO Category

In the MOTO category, Sandy Arief Aritonang (Husqvarna FE 350) delivered a remarkable performance, clocking a total time of 1 hour 2 minutes — setting an early benchmark for the rally. Behind him, Agam Listiyanto (Honda CRF 250) and Azfar Rifaie Saifullah (Honda CRF 250) filled the top three with competitive times.

Interestingly, some riders who excelled in the Prologue struggled to maintain consistency on the longer SS1 terrain. The combination of technical sections, fatigue, and penalties reshaped the standings.

Leg 1 Results – AUTO Category

In the AUTO category, the pairing of Taufan Satria Bijaksana / Kukuh Prihastowo (Toyota Fortuner GR, X2-D) dominated the stage with a total time of 59 minutes 56 seconds. The duo of Novrianda Basyir Govin / Abdul Rachman Said (Porsche Cayenne) followed in second place, while Heri Rusyaman / Leo Bagas Artato (CAN-AM Maverick) secured third.

Several side-by-side vehicles and 4x4 platforms also performed consistently, despite the risk of mechanical issues and time penalties. Cooperation between driver and co-driver proved essential in navigating the changing terrain and maintaining pace.

Looking Ahead to the Next Leg

With SS1 concluded, the early shape of the standings begins to emerge across both MOTO and AUTO categories. However, IRRA 2025 still has several legs ahead, each featuring unique terrain, weather conditions, and technical demands.

The next stages will continue to test consistency, navigation, and risk management. Whether the leaders can maintain their momentum remains one of the biggest storylines of the rally.
